Most workarounds in agent systems compensate for a specific model limitation. When a new release removes that limitation, the workaround usually stays in the code. Over time this leaves scaffolding that adds complexity without adding value and can cause failures of its own. This talk reviews the workarounds we introduced across several model generations, the releases that made each one unnecessary, the cost of keeping them longer than needed, and workarounds that we might need in the future. The talk ends with a test for deciding which scaffolding to keep or remove after each model upgrade.
