From Infrastructure Metrics to Business Impact: Measuring Reliability Where It Matters
Modern observability often provides thousands of infrastructure metrics but very little insight into what actually matters: customer experience and business impact. In this session, you'll learn a practical approach to transforming technical telemetry into business-focused reliability indicators that help engineering teams prioritize the right problems and communicate effectively with stakeholders. Using real-world examples from a large-scale B2B e-commerce platform operating across more than 20 countries, I'll show how we shifted from monitoring servers and services to measuring customer journeys, critical business transactions, and revenue risk. We'll cover how to identify business-critical user flows, design meaningful Service Level Indicators (SLIs), connect observability with Error Budgets and incident response, and build dashboards that answer questions executives and engineers both care about.
